When tragedy is weaponized
Hi everyone,
In light of the recent school shooting tragedy in Minneapolis, I’m breaking our regular posting schedule to share with you my short response essay in The National Catholic Reporter.
Additionally, if you would like to join me in donating to the Minneapolis Annunciation Response Fund, you can do so by texting “ACF1” to 41444.
Emma and I will return tomorrow for a deep dive essay on Franciscan University of Steubenville, then on Monday with a podcast interview with Jenn Morson who has written and reported on abuse cases at Franciscan. These posts will be the formal conclusion of the High Control Catholicism series. Certainly we will continue to write on this topic and refer back to it as we advance further into the fall and share some essays and podcasts celebrating and exploring LGBTQ Catholic history. We are also working on a book that will go much deeper into themes we’ve discussed in our recent series, particularly tracing the advancement of High Control Catholicism throughout the history of America.
Thank you as always for being here and for exploring these important topics with us and adding your voices through comments and lived experience sharing.
-Max
